Saying Goodbye

Losing your mother at any age is never easy. Your feelings take over and you’re overcome with a rollercoaster of emotions as the grieving process begins.

Over the years family and friends have had to cope with loss, sometimes in the most tragic of circumstances. So I count myself fortunate that my mother was blessed with a long and happy life. Many would say she had an infectious zest for living, and this remained with her until the very end.

Along with this sadness I feel there’s a sense of thanksgiving for her extraordinary life, always smiling, happy and carefree. This is how my mother would have wanted you to remember her, because it was the warmth and affection of those around her that inspired her enthusiasm for life.

On Saturday, April 23 my mother passed peacefully in her sleep at home with a smile on her face.
