Robert E. Ward Nature Preserve

“You can’t stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes.”

A. A. Milne, “Winnie-the-Pooh”
Entrance

Robert Ward Nature Preserve is a hiking trail right in my backyard. Only half of the preserve is opened for public access, the other half of the preserve is closed and fenced off.

At the top, you’ll get a 360-degree view of the San Gabriel and San Bernardino mountain ranges, downtown Los Angeles, and Catalina.

There’s a sign hidden amongst the beautiful natural landscape pointing the way to “Hundred Acre Wood”.

This part of the hiking trail is inhabited by Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends. It’s visited regularly by the young boy Christopher Robin who you’ll see along the trail. And there’s Piglet, Winnie‑the‑Pooh’s closest friend holding up a sign in hopes he and his friends can remain in the woods undisturbed.

Tiffany Lira is the young artist who stumbled upon 3 inspirational words, “Hundred Acre Wood” while hiking the nature preserve, sparking her creativity. Tiffany’s wonderful glimpse into Christopher Robin’s world is a welcoming surprise and I’m sure A. A. Milne would agree.

Don’t take my word for it. Take a walk along this moderately challenging trail for yourself. The panoramic views are incredible, the beautiful natural landscape is calmingly peaceful and Hundred Acre Wood will delight the child in you.
