“The mountains are calling and I must go.”
John Muir

Schabarum-Skyline Trail is a long connector trail through open spaces, connecting communities from Covina to Whittier with a variety of trails. Started out from Peter F. Schabarum Regional Park at the equestrian center and across a small bridge.

Less than a mile on the trail there is an art installation of painted palm fronds and many painted rocks on a great overlook area.

There are some nice shaded areas as you hike the dirt path, offering relief from the Southern California sun as well as beautiful city views.

You just might spot a Gophersnake like I did, cutting across your path. They’re one of the most commonly seen snakes in California, adding a little excitement and a bit of a spring in your step. Posted signs indicate rattlesnakes and mountain lions may also be in the area.

The Schabarum Trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for hiking, walking, trail running, and nature trips.
